Opening a franchise in a pandemic, who would do it? Apparently, many people! Franchising is exploding right now as people are craving security, control, diversification, and sometimes multiple streams of income. Franchise ownership can provide all of these.
However, it’s hard to know what industries are thriving and growing during these crazy times. They are businesses that you probably never would have thought about; they tend to fly below the radar. Some people call them “dull normal” businesses.
They are businesses that keep steady, no matter how the economy is producing. They tend to be recession-resilient and now even pandemic resilient.
What are some of these thriving and growing industries?
- Cleaning companies.
Homes and businesses have seen an increase in the need for cleaning, sterilization, and doing this quickly. Cleaning companies are exploding, especially if they can sanitize and do it quickly. All gyms, restaurants, offices, etc., have a new level of need when it comes to disinfecting, and the demand is strong!
- Home services.
How many people have had a COVID project? With all of the extra time at home, we see our home’s imperfections and want them updated quickly. Blinds, paint, flooring, handyman services are exploding!
- Junk removal.
Once again, as we are all quarantined or socially distanced at home, we now have time for projects we never wanted to tackle. Cleaning out and organizing time! Most of us don’t have the ability to take all of our junk to the dump or give them to an organization, so junk removal businesses can’t keep up with the demand.
- Energy efficiency.
As we become more aware of our homes, we also pay attention to our bills, our energy output, and we all saw the effect of giving the environment a break in 2020. That has made people more aware of their energy utilization, insulation in their homes, and carbon footprint. Heating, A/C through technology, insulation improvement type franchises have seen a boost.
- Outdoor entertainment.
We still want to social distance, but we crave people interaction. How can we do this? By being outside! Mosquito control, pool companies, pavers, outside landscaping, sprinklers & irrigation have all seen their businesses grow through COVID.
